Big Idea

Those of us with young children remember the live action shows of characters like Barney and The Wiggles. Sing Yourself Silly is the Veggie Tales version of those affairs. In a nutshell, this one is for preschoolers and very young grade schoolers. The premise here is that the characters are going to present the top ten Silly Songs of All Time. Some snags come up along the way, as some characters want "Lesson Songs," while others want "Songs About Food," and yet another wants '80s songs.

Some songs follow the original format with live characters on stage, mixed in with human dancers, and an MC who probably isn't including this on her resume. The young audience responds well, and the parents seem to know most of the words as well. "Dance of the Cucumber" is still amusing, "His Cheeseburger" is a crowd favorite, as is "The Hairbrush Song." Sounding more dated is "The Rumor Weed," which includes a woefully lacking rap interval.

Young kids will love it, older kids will hate it, and the parents will tolerate it due to the enjoyment of their small children.
